1. Sunset

From the recording The Complexity of Color

Sunset is a composition for jazz quartet commissioned by artist Carol Beesley for “The Complexity of Color.” This work was written to accompany Beesley’s Late Afternoon in Santa Fe, a harmonious and rustic still-life overlooking various potted flora resting on an antique oak tabletop bathed in the warm rays of an evening sun. Sunset is meant to function as a soundtrack for the painting, as if the person staring down onto the table is listening to an old record collection while basking in waves of nostalgia and longing for times long past.
