1. Refraction

From the recordings The Complexity of Color and Refraction

Refraction is a work for fixed media written for Carol Beesley’s painting Blue River, a peacefully hypnotic painting of cerulean water swirling around three river stones. Refraction is intended to be the one purely electronic work of “The Complexity of Color.” Given that the focus of the other paintings is more centered towards the performers, I wanted to shift attention strictly back to the art by conveying Blue River’s sense of serenity through complete sonic immersion. As the theatre is bathed in the soft blue light of the painting, let the soundscape transport you to a gentle, flowing river side.
